Second Hand Band – authors of the music to the film «Man that knew everything»

At the beginning of June 2009 first night of the film «Man that knew everything» shot by a famous theatre director V. Mirzoev took place. The basis of the film is a same name novel by young writer I. Sahnovsky that entered short list of «Big book» literary award in 2007.
The novel tells a story of a modern Russian intellectual who suddenly appears to possess an extraordinary talent. He knows everything about everyone; he can easily predict what will happen to any person in the world in a second, in a month or in many years. The man that can do such sort of things certainly draws attention of commercial structures, secret services and criminals.
According to V. Mirzoev, criminal intrigues were the least interesting matter for him. «Man that knew everything» is a film that helps to answer a number of philosophic questions: how can one leave possessing absolute knowledge? Is it possible to survive in a world where there are no more mysteries?
The main parts in «Man that knew everything» were played by well-known Russian actors E. Beroev, E. Guseva, M. Suhanov. Soundtrack to the film was written by Second Hand Band project. «Man that knew everything» is already the seventh mutual project of SHB and V. Mirzoev. Their collaboration started in 2006 when musicians and a famous director were working at the film «Signs of love». Later SHB wrote music to several theatre performances by Mirzoev: «Dragon» (2006), «Akaky A. Bashmachkin» (2008), «Play for a real man» (2008), «Earlier» (2008), and «Betrayal» (2009).
It’s rather difficult to define the style of soundtrack that Second Hand Band created for «Man that knew everything», but the main features of this music are irony and original usage of main characters catchwords. V. Mirzoev thinks highly of Second Hand Band music. He says that a soundtrack is usually only a part of the whole, an acoustic reflection of the film – that’s why we are not waiting too much from it. If a soundtrack evokes some associations with the plot, with main heroes – it is good enough. But music created by Second Hand Band is completely different. It has its own logic, it is touching and self-sufficing. That is why members of the project decided to release a disk with soundtrack to «Man that knew everything» film.
The disk is to be released on the 11th of June.
